Support Line for Doctoral Students and Early Career Doctorates at IN2PAST – Associated Laboratory for Research and Innovation in Heritage, Arts, Sustainability and Territory

 

Creation of a line of financing for missions (travel and stay) and translation and text proofreading services for PhD students and PhDs at the beginning of their careers, hereinafter referred to as young researchers, from the Associated Laboratory IN2PAST.

The purpose of granting funding is to promote scientific activity and reinforce the integration of young researchers in the IN2PAST Associated Laboratory and its Research & Development Units.

The initial value attributed to this line of financing is €12,000 (twelve thousand euros), and the value may be increased by decision of the IN2PAST Management upon a reasoned request from the members of the evaluation panel.

 

 

 

Only support requests that aim to finance the following missions and services can be considered eligible:

Missions
1. Presentation at an international scientific meeting. Presentation at an international scientific meeting of selected work after a call for communications; the meeting must have an international program and participation and be constituted as a space for relevant discussion within the disciplinary community;
2. Carrying out fieldwork. Carrying out work in a specific and appropriate location to obtain research data – namely, anthropology, ethnology and archeology fieldwork; file consultation; visit to a museum or laboratory – integrated into the doctoral project or post-doctoral research project of the junior researcher.

Services
3. Review or translation of an article for publication. Revision or translation into languages ​​other than the mother tongue of the beneficiary and first/sole author of an article for publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal and indexed in the Scopus or Web of Science databases;
4. Review or translation of book chapters. Revision or translation of a chapter into a language other than the mother tongue of the beneficiary and first/sole author, to be published in a book with peer review carried out by experts external to the editors/coordinators of the work and its UID;
5. Book review. Review of a book, written in a language other than the beneficiary’s mother tongue and first/sole author, with peer review carried out by experts external to your UID.

 

The mission, translation or review that is the subject of a support request must take place between January 6th and December 31st, 2025.

Allocation of financing
1. The amount of support will be €750 to €1250 for each mission or service acquisition. All proposals will be financed as long as there is financial availability in the financing line established for this purpose;
2. the expression of interest period begins on November 15, 2024 and ends on March 2, 2025;
3. Two evaluation periods will be carried out, the results of which will be communicated on the following dates: December 15, 2024 and March 15, 2025;
4. Each beneficiary can receive a maximum of one support.

 

Criteria for attributing support
The jury constituted for this purpose must take into account, when making a decision on the support to be granted, the following criteria:
1. Alignment of the proposal in the expression of interest with the scientific priorities of the IN2PAST Thematic Lines;
2. Importance of support for the development of the doctoral or research project that the doctoral candidate or recent doctor has in progress at their UID;
3. Promotion of an equitable distribution of support allocated, seeking to include beneficiaries from multiple UIDs and IN2PAST management institutions.
