The third of ten volumes in the collection A Escolha do Porto: contributos para a atualização de uma ideia de Escola, by Eduardo Fernandes, was recently published.

After the first book, Antecedentes, and the second, Construção de uma Identidade, this third edition concludes the first series, dedicated to the theme The Writing of Porto.

Entitled Os Anos do Inquérito, it focuses on the six years between the beginning of the work on the Inquiry into Portuguese Regional Architecture and the publication of the book Popular Architecture in Portugal, a period marked by a succession of very relevant events, during which the ideas that were previously associated with the solitary journey of Fernando Távora began to be shared by a collective identity.

 

The presentation of this book, published in partnership by the Marques da Silva Foundation, the Lab2PT of the University of Minho and the Afrontamento Publishing House, will take place on Friday, September 18, at 6 pm, at the Marques da Silva Foundation.

Jorge Correia and João Vieira Caldas, supervisors of the doctoral thesis that is the origin of this editorial project, have been invited to present it; the session will also include the participation of the author, Eduardo Fernandes, and will include a small tribute in memory of the third supervisor, Sergio Fernandez.
