Lab2PT invites all interested parties to participate in the presentation session of the book “The Oldest Books of Municipal Records of Braga, 1509-151 and 1515-1519” on November 19th.

Part of the Utopia Braga 2025 Festival program, the presentation will take place in the Noble Hall of the Braga City Hall at 6 pm.

 

This is a critical edition of Books 1 and 2 of Municipal Records of Braga (1509–1512 and 1515–1519), the oldest municipal records of the city.

This publication reveals the political and social functioning of the municipality in the medieval period, documenting decisions, conflicts and daily life, being a rare and essential source for the study of Portuguese local and administrative history.

Featuring transcription, introductory study and indexes by Joana Lencart and presentation and editing by Arnaldo Sousa Melo, this is a publication of Lab2PT/ICS/UMinho with publishing support from the Braga City Council.
