The Interreg-SUDOE project Cultur-Monts: Valorisation of Mountain Cultural Landscapes: a resource for sustainable territorial development, will study the Peneda Gerês landscape in its agro-pastoral areas with the aim of valorising them using a methodology common to other areas in France and Spain.

This project involves transdisciplinary, transcultural and transtemporal work with a strong vision of the STS paradigm (Science, Technology and Society).

A team from Lab2PT – University of Minho, led by Helena Carvalho, participates in this transnational project, which aims to develop and implement, in five pilot regions located in Spain, Portugal and France, common methodologies for valorising the heritage of mountain cultural landscapes as a development resource, empowering territories and helping to transform local communities through knowledge transfer. In Portugal, it will focus on the Peneda Gerês National Park, specifically the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez and Terras de Bouro, an area dominated by mountain cultural landscapes. In these locations, the Lab2PT research team, made up of archaeologists, historians and IT specialists, will seek to enhance heritage resources linked to the historic road network, transhumance trails and the bread cycle; explore and recover traditional knowledge, living memory and orality; and transfer the knowledge generated to the region and its communities, creating intersectoral networks aimed at sustainable territorial development.
