2026 - SHAPE-D - Smart Handle Additive Produced Ergonomic Design
The Smart Handle Additive Produced Ergonomic Design project arises from the identification of a problem inherent to the frequent occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) associated with the performance of repetitive work tasks using manual cutting tools. This type of injury affects not only the limb directly involved in the activity but also adjacent limbs, and may have long-term, sometimes irreversible, consequences. Based on the identified problem, the need arises for the development of geometric, manufacturing, material, and other solutions for the development of higher value-added hand-held cutting tools. These solutions, in addition to being disruptive, enhance comfortable and ergonomic use and prevent or minimize the occurrence of MSDs during the execution of repetitive tasks.
