Projects
2018 - Pack2Life - High Performance Packaging
The project arises from the identified need for a new packaging that would adapt to different conditions of use, such as transport, storage or even exposure to the public, while ensuring the maintenance of the organoleptic characteristics of the packaged fruits, thus increasing the life span, especially with regard to stone fruits due to their perishability. In this pursuit, the research issues encompass packaging design and manufacturing optimization aiming at a single and reduced production cycle, while ensuring a competitive price.
The foldable and reusable primary packaging (a single part with integral hinges) promotes the sustainable trade of fruit in its highest quality exponent, ensuring the maintenance of the organoleptic characteristics of the packaged fruit and its traceability throughout the cold chain, through the presence of continuous monitoring systems.
