This book presents a set of essays written by specialists in the fields of design, sociology and history, exposing ideas, criticism, reflections and personal impressions on various design themes.

It is not intended to be a summary of Portuguese design but it includes a captivating selection of 58 objects by Portuguese women designers, ranging from furniture, utilitarian objects and jewellery. A local and global dimension that offers a glimpse into the future of Portuguese design through material and immaterial values.

The book was produced as part of the exhibition “Lusophone World: the Women’s Voice in Product Design” which took place at the Campus de Couros/Guimarães Design Institute between September 9 and 23, 2024. The exhibition was curated by Daniel Vieira and Bernardo Providência.
