This catalog compiles various documents that were part of the EnsaboARQ exhibition, promoted by the Porto District Archive (ADP), with the support of the Landscape, Heritage and Territory Laboratory – LAB2PT, Research and Development Unit of the University of Minho.

The main objective of this exhibition was to promote access to and appreciation of the documentary heritage held at the ADP, with a special focus on soap making, trade and the uses of soap in the Porto district, covering a chronology from the 16th to the 20th century. In this context, and in line with the ADP’s mission as an entity dedicated to preserving memory, as well as promoting knowledge, enjoyment of archival heritage and guaranteeing the rights of the State and citizens, the EnsaboARQ exhibition focused on presenting documents relevant to local and regional history, thus seeking to stimulate the interest of researchers and the community in general and contribute to enriching the historical and civic knowledge of the visiting public.
