2026 - Book of Abstracts from the 6th International Seminar for Doctoral Students: Challenges of History
The sixth edition of the International Doctoral Seminar: Challenges of History brings together young researchers in the doctoral phase, with 35 presentations from four Portuguese universities, five Spanish universities, one Argentinian university, and one Brazilian university. The main lectures are given by Professor José Pedro Paiva and Professor Fernanda Rollo. The recognized trajectory of these two academics and their contribution to national historiography enrich the scientific program of the meeting.
Held in Braga, the seminar integrates studies that analyze different spaces of the Ibero-American universe, in a chronological arc that extends from the 14th to the 20th centuries. The presentations
cover a wide range of themes, including heritage, power, conflict, gender, religion, health, migration and trade, as well as rituals and practices associated with death.
Throughout the event, doctoral students have a privileged space to present and discuss their research projects, foster academic exchange, and consolidate the theoretical and methodological frameworks of their work, contributing to the renewal of problems and approaches in the field of History.
