On July 28, 2025, the 90 Seconds of Science program aired an interview with Miguel Duarte, professor at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design at the University of Minho and an integrated researcher at Lab2PT/IN2PAST, about the Walking Arts and Local Communities project, a European initiative that aims to establish an international center for artistic research and practice focused on walking.
During the four-year project, in-person meetings will be accompanied by horizontal online events, ranging from training sessions to lectures and workshops, and collaborative artistic processes.
These events will be promoted through an online platform that brings together all project partners, as well as artists, the public, and communities.
This platform is intended to serve as a digital archive for walking-based arts and a foundation for the future international center for walking-based artistic practices to be established in Prespa, Greece.
This project will conclude in 2027 with a major exhibition in Greece and an event in Belgium.
The Walking Arts and Local Communities (WALC) project is funded by the Creative Europe Program (CREA).
This initiative is supported by the digital platform Walk, Listen, Create.
