Lab2PT Projects – Research & Development
Forma Project
The need for innovative and resilient architectural solutions has driven the development of new construction technologies. Among these technologies, additive manufacturing (AM), combined with advanced digital tools, represents a promising approach to tackling the challenges of the contemporary built environment. The ability to create complex geometries, minimise waste and use recyclable materials makes AM a viable alternative for sustainable construction.
In this context, the FORMA project – Manufacturing Oriented towards Resilience and Architectural Modularity – proposes the research and development of digitally manufactured modular architectural components, optimised to respond to risk scenarios and urban challenges, such as flooding, natural disasters and threats to public safety. The modularity of these solutions will enable the rapid assembly of architectural infrastructure, allowing adaptation to different contexts and needs.
The FORMA project proposes an integrated approach that combines research into new sustainable materials, computational modelling, Additive Manufacturing (AM) and automation for modular construction, enabling the creation of more efficient, adaptable infrastructures with a lower environmental impact.
With a focus on sustainability and innovation, the project aims to address the global challenges facing the construction sector by promoting scalable solutions that can be implemented in a variety of urban contexts.
